How do I DIY an aged zinc look for an MDF French slope fan hood?
Hi ... I'm in the midst of a reno and love the French country look but a real zinc fan hood for the stove is out of my budget. I've done real venetian plaster before and wondering if I can fake a zinc look with it on the fan hood my contractor will be building for me... has anyone had any experience with this???

Medium Density Fiberboard range hood?
I would take an existing steel hood and sand it, prime it gray and then spray it with “aluminum” paint, blotchy, and then use a “hammer tone” silver finish in an irregular splotchy pattern.,
you could also sponge metallic paint enamel paint, but a quart of that is more than 2 cans of metallic spray paint.

Contact cement the zinc panels on the framing members.
Then surface solder them with a soldering iron (real zinc takes special prep).
I would design the interior of the “box” to hold an existing fan unit, as the fan/only is going to require interior custom fabrication too.
