Hmm, I didn't know that chuck was the term for these camping storage boxes. I wonder if the name came from 'Chuck Wagon', like the campfire standby Chuckwagon stew?

Whatever you do, use exterior grade 3/4” plywood. Like CDX.
Having been part of 2 Boy Scout Troops who had to rebuild their chuck boxes, they failed from improper materials.
The second way they failed was that their materials were not Serviceable.
