Super Easy Gray Barnwood Effect
Want to get the barnwood effect without barnwood? It's easy to do in just a few steps.
First I painted the table top with Driftwood. It's a light gray with a tinge of brown. Great neutral color. For this you'll also need a couple of brushes, some water-based wax, paint and sealant. Gravel road and Gator Hide
I applied the Best Dang Wax in White by dry brushing across the top. I want all the brush strokes to go the same way to mimic grain of wood. Cover the whole top and edges. Give it 10 mins to dry.
Now I applied the darker paint, Gravel Road, painting in the same direction as the wax. I dipped the brush then blotted the excess off. I only want a light hint to mimic grain. The trick is to add the sealant before this coat is dried completely.
I applied a light coat of Gator Hide Top Coat. Applying it before the paint is completely dry allows it to blend together to a natural wood look. This will help smooth out any places I got too much of the darker paint.
Now just let that dry completely. It's easy to do and looks amazing.
