Fix a Crack at Base of Cement Stairs

There has been a fairly deep crack located in the sidewalk at the base of the front cement stairs leading to my home’s front door. (It’s maybe about 6 inches long and a half inch wide. Not sure how deep.) It’s been there from almost the beginning of when we moved into our new home, about 17 years ago. How should I go about fixing this?

Quickrete makes a crack sealer with no need for a caulking gun. Says if the crack is more than 1/4" deep, use a backer rod (available at Lowes) It may shrink, so overfill to allow for that. I would not try to move the cement since it's been stable for almost 20 years.

There are “expanding” concrete mixes that you could trowel in there.
It sounds like a polymerized cementitious caulk with a filler rod would do it.
