How to paint an outdoor patio umbrella?

I have an outdoor patio umbrella that is in perfect shape except that it is terribly faded. I remember seeing on Hometalk once how to paint an umbrella, but of course I didn’t keep the article. Any suggestions?

Hello. It’s a very frustrating situation to see how the sun fades outdoor fabrics so easily often sometimes in one season. I’ve had a problem with umbrellas furniture and even garden flags.
