Hi Dawn, it may be possible to sand it down and just apply polyurethane for a lighter wood look. Otherwise you could consider a white wash.
You could try to sand it and restain it
You could sand it and then restain it
Hello there,
The quickest way to change the colour would be to undercoat and use a paint the colour you would like, and then use a thick varnish and a dry brush method to achieve a grained look again, otherwise it would mean striping, sanding and bleaching and then re-staining and finishing, a long dirty and in the end maybe not really what you are after. Best wishes.
What is an undercoat?
Undercoat is another term that means the same as Primer.
It is a paint specially made to seal the surface and to prepare it for the paint coat in the color of your choice. Undercoats/primers prevent surfaces from soaking up too much paint, colors from bleeding through and help to prevent peeling.
Hello. A pickling technique would be an easy application—- if that suits your taste.
