Beverly L on Jul 14, 2012Thank u Steve....I would like to have it where the rust, has some, can be taken off, however is not rusted all the way through the metal, and repainted and the lettering on it also restored by painting it. I know nothing about doing this type of thing however would need to strip it and then make it look like a new one which I would call restoring it back to original look...I hope that make sense...Helpful Reply

3po3 on Jul 14, 2012Yes, that makes sense. I wasn't sure what type of work or parts it might have needed. That's the reason I asked. I tried to do a little search in your area and can't find any classic toy shops, but if you know of any, they might be able to help. Another suggestion I have is to cal a community college or trade school in your area that has auto body classes. Sounds like a really fun project for a student.Helpful Reply

Beverly L on Jul 15, 2012Thank u so much for you help. That would be a good suggestion about a community college or trade school. I will try one of those...I see that u live in Fort Collins, and we were in Colorado in May visiting with my cousins in Del Norte. I also have a nephew that lives outside of Denver..We love Colorado, but not in the Del Norte area as it is in the valley, and kind of like the desert, and I do not enjoy the desert, but love the Rocky Mtns. Again than u so much for you help!Helpful Reply

3po3 on Jul 15, 2012The Del Norte area has its charms, but I also prefer being deeper into the mountains. I have some good family friends in Del Norte. Kind of a small world thing because there just aren't that many people in Del Norte.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Jul 16, 2012I enjoy driving through the San Luis Valley...It is one of my favorite parts on the way to our ranch near Tres Piedras NM...( about an hour south of Alamosa). I love the very wide open space from Villa Grove down to Alamosa (on hwy 17)...its refreshing and "wide open" but I too, prefer a few trees and a bit of topography. Back to your fire truck....have you ever watched American Restoration on the History Channel. http://www.history.com/shows/american-restoration/videos/classic-restorations#classic-restorationsHelpful Reply
