How to use a ceiling fan'?

I am thinking you want to use your ceiling fan in summer to get cool and winter to get warmed:

While a fan spinning in either direction can increase air flow, counterclockwise-turning fans push air down toward the room occupants because of the tilt of the fan blades. When the air flow is strongest as it hits people, they feel most comfortable.

Winter fan rotation should be reversed

In the winter, however, a little air flow can keep room occupants warm — as long as they don’t feel a breeze. To prevent a draft, a ceiling fan should be run on low and clockwise, so that air is pulled up to the ceiling and then pushed against the walls.

Ceiling fans really just cool the people in the room by moving the air - you can turn them off in empty rooms. :)

Run ceiling fans on low in a clockwise direction during cold weather. Ceiling fans can produce the opposite effect in the winter by gently circulating hot air that is trapped near the ceiling. Since heat rises, the temperature near the ceiling is greater than at floor level.

I use mine to cool down in the summer then reverse and help keep rooms warmer in the winter. It saves quite a bit on your energy bill.

Be sure the light switch is on and pull the string that goes with the fan part, if you have a string

Make sure the fan is running in the proper direction for the season. If it’s powered by a light switch, turn that on. If there’s a chain, pull it to change speeds or turn on and off.
