Advice before subletting?

KMS Woodworks on Jul 31, 2012Considering the short time frame and "pay up front" I don't see much trouble. Where typical issues come up is with longer term stuff where missing rent can be the major issue. A walk through before and after for potential "damage" issues (your security deposit) would be something to consider above and beyond the pay up front part.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Jul 31, 2012Be very careful Lulu, Subletting an be difficult at best and may also not be allowed by your current agreement. This can get you kicked out fast. I would seek the advice of an attorney to draw up the agreement and to check to see if you can even sublet the apartment. What happens if something breaks. Your current insurance will not cover it assuming you are insured. Unless your insurance has a sublet policy clause. Personally for only a week or two, its simply not worth it. Unless it is your own family who has your interests on their mind. I would not do it. Regardless if you know this person for one day or 10 years.Helpful Reply
