Button Lampshade--To Line or Not to Line?
Second, I've been wanting to do a button-covered lamp shade for some time. When I found a shade that looked as if it would work, I decided to forge ahead. (If, that is, one can define "forging ahead" as taking forever to complete.)
So, if you were considering buying such a creation, would you prefer it lined or would you be satisfied with it not?
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

House Of Hawthornes on Oct 18, 2014Wow, that must have taken you forever to stitch them all in there. Great job! I think lined??? But I could really go either way.Helpful Reply

Nancy Gramm on Oct 19, 2014Thanks for the comments. I decided to do a test run on the lining with muslin. Once I have one stitched up, I can tell whether I'll be able to glue it on or must stitch. And Jeanette, yes, how it looks with the light on must be a determining factor. I'd thought of using a pink silk to line it, but found a white China silk for six bucks a yard and pink would have cost almost double. Pink under white fabric has a lovely glow when lit but I'm not sure it would matter under the buttons. Maybe I'll die a swatch and see what that looks like with the light on. Great suggestion!Helpful Reply
