Zinzer1-2-3 or Kilz for best primer adherence?

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Oct 24, 2014Both primers will work fine, however if you have a special paint you want to use, I would suggest that you purchase the primer that goes with the paint. Gumming up of sand paper is common with heavily applied latex or oil based paints. The stretching of the paint is also common. Its caused by heavy layers of paint that was applied. The same thing can happen with paint purchased today. Ideally a good paint stripper will do the trick. Takes some time, but gets you down to the original wood making the job look much more professional as the details of the spindles will show though the new finish once done.Helpful Reply

Susan E on Oct 25, 2014Remove latex paint with rubbing alcohol. I had to use in in a 1970's bathroom painted BRIGHT yellow. Did not do the walls, just the woodwork. Was pretty fast working.Helpful Reply
