Rose Frickson on Feb 16, 2015Joann if your pieces are out of the new guest room and you have space in your home try a process of elimination. Take a couple pieces of furniture and play with different layouts and pieces. Pintrest has a ton of ideas just for what your looking for. It also has design layouts for small rooms, etc. eclectic is the new It thing. Good luck and have funHelpful Reply

Cheryl @ Artzzle on Feb 16, 2015Hi Joann. I find it easiest to empty the room completely and start from scratch. For any bedroom the basics are bed (natch), bedside table surface, good lighting, a storage piece and hanging space. Especially in a guest room, where someone may occasionally need private space away from the crowd, I ALWAYS INCLUDE a comfortable chair w/nice lamp As a former military wife now a designer/stager, I know that mobile homes have very small 2nd bedrooms, but you can still have fun AND everything you need. My smallest bedroom project was 7 1/2' wide by 12' long. It housed a captain's bed with exposed storage drawers & shelves, an antique dresser and mirror, and a beautiful COMFORTABLE wing chair. It's still one of my favorite projects. Have to dig for photos as this was a long time back :) Daybed brings to mind twin size, with metal frames that are sometimes flimsy or wobbly. I've always recommended a strong, basic wooden frame. Have also used versions of captain's beds with built-in storage. But just a solid wood frame (headboard or no) works too. You can utilize the space underneath with containers (hidden by a bedspread) OR open, decorative baskets. You won't want to waste that storage area. If you need two beds for guests, a twin pullout is great. The second mattress rests beneath the main bed and pulls out when necessary for extra guest. Here's a link to a bedroom in my home. And I'll post some photos of a recent restyle project I did. Hope this helps. http://artzzle.com/2014/08/20/a-must-for-every-bedroom/Helpful Reply

Cheryl @ Artzzle on Feb 16, 2015You are SO WELCOME. Post some photos when you're done. That carpet sounds beautiful. Don't overdo, you don't always have to paint, you know. That burgandy color will be easy to accessorize with. Aren't Hometalk and Pinterest great. Beats cutting up all my magazines and filing everything!Helpful Reply
