Pete Wells on Apr 12, 2015I got SO tired of returning vacuums to the store after they failed to clean a 9x7 rug without breaking in some way..I finally was satisfied with a Sears upright bagged model, @ less than $200..Brands I had to return were Hoover & Electrolux, I looked at Dyson but they were outrageously expensive and very poorly made..Helpful Reply

Trish Davenport on Apr 12, 2015I have always used Sears Canister vacuums. They are so strong they can lift the carpet off the floor. In 50 years I have only had to purchase 2 of them. Best bargain of my life. Easy to store, easy to use.Helpful Reply

Hazel Vargas on Apr 12, 2015I'll keep your comments in mind. What I like about the Dyson ads is that they look so light and sexy, but I've read Consumer Report reviews that they're not worth the expense compared to other similar products because the other highly rated competitors clean just as well. But I like that it occupies minimal real estate -- another consideration of mine. I once ditched a brand new Eureka (an old model) because when I took it for repairs after using it maybe 3 times, the shop was going to charge me for it and I walked out of the shop and left it there, enraged.Helpful Reply

Brenda Roth on Apr 13, 2015I swear by bagged ........... and now that they have the scented bags too........... makes it smell fresh while vacuuming................ wouldn't have it any other way............ just bought the cheap one at wal mart.............. last one lasted almost 15 years........... with just replacing belts once or twice.............. and to me they actually compact the dirt more........... have 2 labs that are shedding................ opened it to replace the bag and just could NOT believe how much was jammed into that bag.Helpful Reply

Brenda Roth on Apr 14, 2015It's a Bissell Powerforce............ think it was around 40-50 dollars.............. and I spend a little more on the febreeze bags for it.......... little strip you pull of the bottom of the bag before you put it in sweeper............... heavy? I used it on steps.......... many times before....... little awkward there but, can be done....... otherwise.......... no not heavy............ but, when I put new bag in............ my 3 year old grandson likes to help push it...........but, for awhile after I put a new bag in............. he can't budge it......... LOL really pulls out the dirt. Uses type 7 bags. soooooooo as for the rock scientist............. easy as pie to operate lolHelpful Reply

Hazel Vargas on Jan 30, 2016I used to have an Oreck with bags, which I loved, but gave it to my daughter. I bought another Oreck last year, but just for carpets and am sorry I bought that not because it doesn't work (and it has bags! which I wanted), but because it's rather heavy and cumbersome to use. I still haven't found the right one for me -- one that can do both bare floors and rugs with upholstery attachments, with bags, and easy to carry around. I've bought and discarded 3 cleaners in the last 2 years. Sigh.Helpful Reply
