Ceramic tile idea for this great find?
I thought I could incorporate somehow on a table top?! Don't want to use it then regret not giving it a great resting place. I only have one. LOL
ANY IDEAS?

Darla on Jun 17, 2015It's gorgeous! You could get some wood the same thickness and "frame" it in on the table top.Helpful Reply

Eileen on Jun 17, 2015I think frame it also, but first I would stencil family name on it in a high gloss blackHelpful Reply

Swan Road Designs on Jun 17, 2015Due to it's narrowish dimension, how about putting a border of small mirror tiles around it and turning it into a larger table or into a serving tray. You don't have to use extra-shiny mirrors, even frosted would compliment the tile. Better yet, a table top that can be both a top AND a serving tray. It seems a shame to delegate it to only one part of the house or to a single purpose.Helpful Reply

Karen Baker on Jun 18, 2015This is a beautiful and unique tile! Personally, I would find a way to hang it on the wall. A frame matching the color of the swirls would make them stand out. I also like the idea of putting your last name on, but I would do it in a black or white font that vaguely matches the swirls and frame it in black or gray that matches the background. I don't think using it for a table would be the showpiece this tile deserves. Just sayin'...Helpful Reply

Laurie Brennan on Jun 18, 2015It's beautiful..I've never seen anything like this. I too think that framing it out with mirror tiles would really bring out the pattern in whatever application you decide to use it for. It could even be a great focal point in a backsplash. Anyone know where to purchase something like this? I would love to buy some.Helpful Reply

Ali's Wood Be Rescues on Jun 18, 2015Thank you ladies for the suggestions. It really is a great piece. I spoke with the lady who gave me tons of tiles n wood n she said that she redid her kitchen n office and requested samples of wood flooring n ceramic tiles. .. she saps all you have to do is just go on line and request the samples. For someone like me who is experimenting with some new creations I thought the idea was genius. This may be useful information for some free samples of neat stuff. I have about 3 boxes of some of these samples.1 marked as helpful Reply

Trudy on Jun 18, 2015Hmmm, not feeling the mirrored tiles suggestions. I'm afraid it would take attention away from the swirly pattern. How about a silver wooden frame and hang it on the wall; either vertical or horizontal. I know frames can be pricey. I've bought yard sale frames and cut them down to size and painted them.Helpful Reply

Becca on Jun 18, 2015It is so pretty! I would think about a satin finish black frame. Something simple that will let the tile be the star.Helpful Reply

JennB on Jun 19, 2015This is beautiful. You could use it for a table top on vintage Singer Sewing Machine or Aquarium Stand. I've been looking for something like this to do exactly that. I have the Sewing Machine & Aquarium bases but can't seem to find something reasonably priced for the top.Helpful Reply

Elizabeth Dion on Jun 20, 2015I think it would make a beautiful inlay for a coffee table. Another idea would be to mount it to a piece of plywood and using small mirror tiles to "mosaic" around it, then hanging it as a display piece in a place of prominence.Helpful Reply

PainterNoni on Jun 20, 2015If used as a table top, the beautiful pattern wouldn't be seen. I definitely see it as a wall hanging. it depends upon the size of a wall......what room, etc. could be stunning as a middle panel with elements on either side. You could go elegant, modern, or rustic depending upon your style.Helpful Reply

Elizabeth Catlin Young on Jun 24, 2015Since your piece is an oddly-sized one for a coffee table, or an end table, and other comments suggest that the pattern won't get noticed unless it's hung vertically, I'd suggest using it to frame a mirror! If you have a Hobby Lobby store in your neck of the woods, they have GREAT CHEAP BEAUTIFUL open frames. Look for a wide one, one with an "inset" that you could have your tile cut to, and then just glue it in place with tile adhesive. For example, have a tile company (Lowe's and Home Depot cut tiles for customers too) cut your tile into strips, say, into (2) 4 1/2 x 36 and (2) 4 1/2 x 18, arrange them into a rectangular shape and set them inside a very wide frame (the inset would have to be at least 4 1/2 inches). Or, take a piece of good old (better yet: thrown out and repurposed) plywood...say, 36 X 18. Glue a mirror (you can get those cut at Lowes and glass companies, but not at HD) around the outside of the mirror. Don't forget to put a hanger on the back of the plywood before you glue any tiles or mirror to it, though. Good luck!Helpful Reply
