Had great success using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to remove a water ring from an antique desk!

While it's recommended the you don't use the product on wood, with light application and a bit of polish, the desk is now as good as new! I'll add that the ring was only a few hours old.

It was, KMS. It seemed to work like a very fine fine grit sandpaper on the spot. It was removing tiny pieces of the water ring, while leaving the surface intact.

now you can brush up on your french polish techniques..In case any one wonders what a Magic Eraser is...it is a tight "sponge" made from Melamine fibers the real name is Formaldehyde-Melamine-Sodium bisulfite copolymer

The magic eraser also cleaned grease tracked in from the garage onto the hardwoods in my house.
