We have the same situation. Lots of plumbing pipes with purple glue and red printing on them plus the black foam insulation .
We were advised to use special Valspar bonding primer for slick surfaces. We primed the pipes next painted them to match the walls. It helped disguise them and made the room look better.
How about wrapping them in artificial vines for a tropical look?
You may want to build out the wall about eight inches and hide them. Or box the space with bookcases.
Boxing them in with the box painted the same color as the walls will look much more finished, and be much less visually distracting than it is now. Make one side of the 'box' like a door with hinges so that it can be easily opened if access to the pipes is needed.
