My most unexpected repurpose project

As I was cleaning out my father's office, I came upon a huge stash of old floppy disks - some of which were still unused. It seemed a shame to throw them away so I upcycled them into cabinet pull backers for my Ikea cabinet in the bathroom.

I used the metal disk part for this project and painted the middle orange to complement our wall colour. Now the pulls have more presence and help brighten a dull bathroom.

I'll be posting this and a few more floppy disk hacks on my Hometalk page at Birdz of a Feather soon !

not exactly sure this makes a whole lot of dif. not real noticeable to me.

Sam - I think you've missed the point. I can't bear to see anything useful go into the landfill. There's so much we can do with the things we have to breathe new life into them. It may not have huge visual impact - like some projects on Hometalk - but I think it's the small things that make the biggest difference when it comes to mindset! Living a sustainable life is always worth the trouble. After all, good planets are hard to find :)

My son started a great idea for old CDs or DVDs that we have adopted....Just stick one over any nail used for hanging up items in the garage, SO much easier to locate them and 0 effort!

Some people take some of those floppy disk or else CD that are too scratch to play again with contact paper & use them as coasters in their rooms.
