How do I refurbish an older bathroom double sink and vanity top?

Replacement is an option. I'm not sure what your material is, but it may be able to be buffed out. A very fine sanding pad can be used on quartz counters. However, your counter may be a plastic resin. Check with local stores for ideas.

Hi. Love the color of the bathroom! Faucets are also very very nice. Good choice. Okay, onto the cultured marble (or is it Corian?) countertop. If it is Corian, I'd pull it out and sell it since it would fetch a nice price. And of course, Corian can be sanded to a smooth finish. If it is cultured marble, leave the sinks as they are and do a faux marbling effect on the top. It can be subtle so that it just adds an element of texture to the top. You can use light shades of grey and harvest green (that has a grey undertone). Then for an added delight, use command strips and put oval mirrors above each sink. It makes for a very interesting treat and breaks up the expanse of mirror above. Happy decorating!

If you do not want to replace the countertop and sinks, you might consider using a Gianni countertop kit to create the look of a granite countertop. Rustoleum offers a product that also gives a granite look - Countertop Transformations. If you didn't have the preformed sinks, I'd say consider covering the countertop with a thin veneer of wood planks or wood look self-stick products from a big box store, and then use marine lacquer for a finish to water proof if you use real wood. Or lay porcelain tile in a color and finish that you like - you'd have to trim around the sink perimeters - but not sure how you would finish the edging around the sink - maybe there are different kinds of metal banding that could be used to provide a smooth and finished look around the sink edges. As I understand it, there really is no way to refinish the preformed laminate sinks. Maybe there is a way to clean them up without etching or scratching them and then lacquer them or otherwise finish them with a clear coating to give them a sheen that would hold up to water and usage - but it wouldn't be a permanent solution.

I didn't want to spend a lot of money on my project so I put contact paper on my counter and then caulked as normal around my sink. I totally get a lot of compliments!!

Hello Barbara. I'm Cindy. You could change your counter tops and sinks using a kit that is currently being sold in Home Improvement stores. I walked past them in Home Depot a couple weeks ago. And noticed that they have kits to create the look of granite, marble, etc. They start at $30. Good luck Barbara and Happy Thanksgiving.

Miracle Method Surface Refinishing! We had marble countertops that were stained. Miracle Method came in and performed their "miracle" now we have what looks like quartz countertops. They also redid the sinks. Much less expensive than replacing. Turned out beautiful.
