I need an easy and cheap solution for putting a door in my bedroom. The doorway has no door frame. There used to be a sliding door but due to cupboards being installed the door had to be removed. There is not longer space on the inside (or the outside to have a sliding door. I only have the doorway area to put a door. And I cannot have a normal door that opens on the inside or the outside. I really need some ideas. Thank you

How many inches do you have to work with on either side and on the top of the door opening, before touching anything else in the room?

If you posted a picture of your door opening showing where is positioned in the room, more Hometalkers would be able to offer you solutions to your particular situation.

If you can't have a door that open to the inside or outside of your bedroom, I like Janet's idea of a drape for something inexpensive or you can get a bi-fold door that folds to one side. It will install with a track on top. Sometimes you can find them used, but in good condition at your local Habitat Re-Store.

You might consider a Cafe Door that mounts to allow the door to swing in and out. You could easily add molding to serve as a jamb to swing in only. Hope this help or gets your creative side working for you

What about a folding screen? Or taking 3 tall window shades connected with hinges and making a tri-fold free standing door?
