Any ideas on how to make your own BBQ island/outdoor kitchen?

I’d like to make a BBQ island with counter space and everything I see to buy is over $1000 with no counter space. Making our own seems the better way to go.

There are kits out there for what you're asking for. You could also frame around your grill and add the countertops to the frame. Use the fake stone to cover the front.

My dad used cinder block and made a grill pit. He then used metal hooks to hold a thick screen over the bottom. He left a opening at one end on the bottom for air. He then used metal clips to support a fire place screen near the top. He used a heat resistant folding table so he could put it up when not in use. He used his grill for grilling every thing from whole pigs to hamburgers and hot dogs. He used a old round cover from a charcoal grill when ha needed to cover certain food as needed. He used charcoal to wood as he decided. May not what you had in mind; but it worked.
