Start with getting a permit to construct your deck. Unless your a carpenter, I'd leave this job to a professional. So many things in this project needs to be inspected. If you fail inspection, you can change whatever you failed for, but it will cost you money. Leave this to a carpenter. Find one on HomeAdvisor, they are screened, and their business has a good rating. Good Luck!Helpful Reply -

8 feet wide is not enough for a 50 foot deck to enjoy chairs, swing, grill, etc. It will look much better wider.Helpful Reply -

A long lasting deck... may not be inexpensive... if you are looking for temporary... the pallets may work... BUT... if you are looking for longevity.. pressure treated materials, proper footings and foundation is a necessity.I would suggest that you check out HomeAdvisor.com or Angieslist.com for a list of reference checked, verified contractors who can advise you on the best way to put in a deck that will last.... they will know about permits, materials and all that stuff.Helpful Reply -
