If you already have grass, lay your stones out in a pattern you desire directly on the turf. Leave them there until the grass underneath dies. This Will give you a pattern to cut out the dead grass and dig down enough for the pavers or stones to lie pretty much flush with the grass. It’s a beautiful way for a natural path, and the mower goes right over as an added plus!
