How can I build an easy-to-make bookshelf?

What kind of bookshelf are you looking for? Wood or metal? I use the metal storage shelves found at places like Menards for many things--different sizes--silver or black--easy to put together--inexpensive yet sturdy. You don't mention whether you want a decorator look or just something functional. These shelf units fall into the functional category!

Your local home improvement store should have DYI shelves, in various lengths and colors, and supports. You can go fancy or standard. I went with standard in my garage. http://www.luckyhometoday.com/garage-and-workbench-improvement/
I built some out of shelving board with a plywood back so they would be sturdy. I glued in place and secured with small nails. Then primed and painted.
