How can we make room for books in a small bedroom?

My teen girls share a small bedroom. They love to read and though they have weeded out books, they still have a big collection of books. We would like to build shelves that would help store their books without loosing more floor space.
Which do you think would best suit our needs, shelves along the walls, close to the ceiling or “built-ins” replacing their nightstands?
There is one major challenge! The room doesn’t have a wall with ends on each side that are commonly seen with built-ins.

You could add a full-size library going up to the ceiling, or if you don't have enough place, just going with a corner bookcase like this one : https://mobilia.ca/en/neghan-786555490.html
Books are surprisingly heavy. Do not have shelves wider than 3’ or they will Warp. I would go all the way around the room at the ceiling level. Think “giant plate rail”.
Screw the 12” shelf brackets into the studs.
If you put a 1x4 on the front edge, like a plate rail, then it could be decorated with border paper, or stenciled or artwork.
Then paint an old fashioned folding step stool a complimentary color.
