Make sure you rinse dishes before you put them into the dishwasher. Put a cup of vinegar on top shelf & put the detergent in as usual. Run cycle without dishes.

I usually empty the dishwasher, pour 1 cup of white vinegar in the bottom and run it. Then run it empty a second time. Much like you do a coffee maker. Don't forget to clean the food catcher at the bottom of the dishwasher first.

Lemon shine makes a citrus product just for this purpose. If I have to rinse my dishes I would not have a dishwasher.

If the white vinegar does not do the trick for you in eliminating the dirt at the bottom, I would consider looking elsewhere for a drain blockage.

I wonder why a dishwasher would have to be cycled to do the task it is engineered and built to do and then re-cycled with vinegar, how efficient is it to do dish-washing twice? Twice the volume of water, electricity, and then heat.

place a cup of vinegar on the top rack and run a full cycle with very hot water. Wipe inside with paper towel when cycle is completed.
