How to remove carbon buildup from stove top??
I have a stove top that well, let's face it, has been neglected over the years. I now have several layers of carbon that absolutely will not wipe off and I don't want to scour it. Any tips or pointers on how to remove this carbon buildup? I actually considered using Automotive carbon remover but I have been holding off giving that a try.

The calcium build up is from the hard water we have here in Chicago. A scuff pad works but scratches the surface.

Hi there. What kind of stove top is it? We have a glass stove top and we've used a product called Cerama Bryte. I believe that Bar Keeper's Friend is essentially the same. It works wonders and it's safe, won't scratch and you can use it on stainless steel safely too. Here's how we've done it...https://www.exquisitelyunremarkable.com/2017/04/the-best-way-to-clean-glass-stove-top.html. Hope that helps.
Check out Norwex, they have products that are supposed to be perfect for something like this. Maybe volunteer to have a party and get the rep to use it as a demo.
The Mr Magic cleaning bricks. They clean ANYTHING, and all you do is wet them. I use them all over my house. They are not abrasive but last a long time. The package has a picture of a bald muscle man. In cleaning isle. Save yourself lots of labor and get one. I know you will love them. Have a great day.
If the carbon is greasy, a Pine sol type cleaner may work. If "crusty" a lime scale remover may work.
Try Krud Kutter, a cleaner and degreaser, let set for 15 minutes, scrape off any excess with this from Amazon;https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JF5ULU0?psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=allthumbsdiy-20&linkId=b6e5b2f8e18c9203c30ef0858d2d3069&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
Somewhat depends on what type of stove you have (glass, enemal, stainless steel).
