Soak a dishcloth or sponge in hot water and dish soap and let it sit on top of the grease and burnt on food until it softens and start wiping it off. May have to do this a few times to get it all off. Do not use an abrasive cleaner or sponge. Find a non scratch sponge.
Baking soda and white vinegar work very well in the oven for burnt on grease. Should work on stove top too. Make a paste or I just sprinkle on baking soda and pour on vinegar. For a extra boost heat surface first. Allow to cool and do its work before removing grime. Repeat if necessary. Good luck!
I use Bar Keeper's friend. Sprinkle it generously over the burnt areas. Lay a layer of 2-3 paper towels over the entire area. Very slowly pour very hot water over the paper towels until they are soaked and let sit a few hours or overnight (my preference). In the morning slowly pour more hot water until paper towels are moistened. Use the paper towels to "scrub" the stove top. If there are still areas that did not come off, use more Bar Keeper's friend and a wet non-abrasive scrubber. If you have really stubborn areas, repeat this process. When all the stains are gone, rinse stove top until all the Bar Keeper's is gone and dry with a clean towel. I have never had this fail and your cooktop will sparkle.
