I have never tried it, but I have you tried CocaCola for the toilet? They say pour in a can, let it sit a while, scrub, flush. It's possible that what you think is dirt is actually the porcelain worn away in the tub, and the metal underneath showing through. If all else fails, you might try talking the landlord into re-glazing the tub. They don't do this to toilets though.
Have you tried the Mr clean majic erasers? They work wonders for dirt, grime and soap scum
here's a video for the toilet...
if you want to try limaway...it’s specific to calcium/ lime build up should help the toilet. Coke changed its formula..if you can find a coke classic it might work
just a bit of trivia -the original formula for coke contained cocaine.
Get the water level low in the toilet. Put a quart bottle of store brand white vinegar 5% in the toilet. Let it sit a few hours, then clean as usual. The mark should be easier to get off. I buy this stuff by the gallon - only about $3.00 a gallon to keep on hand for cleaning coffee makers, toilets etc. Good if you have hard water problems. As for the bath tub I have heard of people using oven cleaner on old porcelain discolored tubs (not plastic) - never tried it myself. So try at your own risk..
I have a friend who had a bathtub in her new house painted white from a color. I did not know you could do that. You might inquire about the cost of re-painting.
