I would just use the dawn as peroxide may pull color out of the carpet.

I use a spray made of ammonia, Dawn & Baking Soda (Sodium bicarbonate). It does work for me (light beige carpet)...

We've always used baking soda and vinegar on carpet stains, and a small amount of clear dish detergent and warm water. Does the trick on our light tan carpet with a mechanic living in the house, along with 4 dogs, and regular heavy foot traffic.

I used an automobile degreaser spray for car engines, on my grease stains on my carpet. Works wonders. I rinsed with a warm to cool water and blotted with a towel. I also use the spray Spic and Span for pet stains....this too works well. I use white vinegar for pet stains....sometimes the colored vinegar will set a stain.

Acetone, either by itself or found in nail polish remover, works wonders. Stains magically disappear before your eyes. Anything you try you should always try on the carpet in your closet or other inconspicuous area.

Use the nail polish remover first. Blot with a clean towel. DO NOT RUB. Then use vinegar, water, and a few squirts of Dawn liquid. Blot with a clean towel.
