Keep trying different cleaning supplies but still dealing with a film and footprints. Have used vinegar and water. Does Windex work? Heard mixed reviews on Bona.

Windex may dull the finish, so I wouldn't use it. Instead, try 1/2 cup of ammonia with 1 gallon of warm water. Mop with the solution and wipe up with a microfiber cloth. Test in an inconspicuous area first.

I've heard of the vinegar/water (1 cup per 1 gallon) method and it worked on my lighter floors. Not so sure about the darker flooring. I'd not recommend Windex for floors. I prefer Murphy's over Bona myself.

    Hi Georgia,
I found an interesting discussion from people who were also having footprint problems on dark floors. A lot of it has to do with the dark color and the lighter color of the footprints. The opposite would be true if you had light floors - everything dark, like muddy footprints would show. Click on the link below to read the discussion to see if something that was written will help you. Wishing you the best.

Murphy's oil soap, wash it with this product, it will shine your floor. You can find it in your grocery store, with floor cleaners.

I've always used Murphy's oil soap. Just be sure not to use too much. A little bit goes a long way.

I use Woodwise. You have to order it online, but it works great. Just spray it on full strength or dillute with water and wipe up with a clean rag, then go over with another clean rag to give it a shine. It was left behind by the previous owners and I haven't used anything else but that.
