I drive a school bus. The moisture in the air collects on the seats during the summer. Every year I try to find something to remove the mildew that has formed but nothing works. I've tried straight bleach and other stuff. I need new ideas before school starts on Aug 2nd.

I know the article I am sending you is about vinyl boat seats but if this recipe can take the mildew off of boat seats it should work well for school bus seats! And THANKS for being a school bus driver! I was a Sp. Ed para for 25 years--I NEVER could have been a bus driver! Bless you!

Use a solution of salt and water, soak and repeat. Proven on life jacket with similar mildew stains. May need to repeat several times. Eco friendly as well. I clean up with vinegar and waters solution.

Clorox. I would start off mixing it 1/2 water and 1/2 Clorox. Add more Clorox if needed.

I cleaned up all the vinyl in a boat that had been sitting on the back lot at a boat dealership for a few years. I used a Mr. Clean heavy duty magic eraser and a cheap orange oxi clean multipurpose cleaner that I found at Home Depot for a couple of bucks a quart. It worked fast, the vinyl looked like new. If you are afraid of it coming back real soon, give the seats a squirt and let it dry on its own. It will not only disinfect, but it will kill the mildew spores. Thank you for your service to see all the kids safely to and from school. Not a job everyone can do day after day! You are special to do the work you do every day, Julie!

If you have not been able to find the answer to your question, then I think here on this site https://oceanessay.com/, you can find an essay on how to clean the surface of dirt and mildew. I was shocked when I saw it, so I advise you to read it.
