Cleaning a concrete fireplace slab

Marion Nesbitt on Nov 21, 2014I'd scrub it with whatever you have on hand, first. I would use concrete stain rather than paint. You could probably do a faux treatment if you used more than one shade.Helpful Reply

Daniel W on Nov 22, 2014Try using automatic dishwasher powder. Mix a cup of powder to couple cups water, then sponge it on, works great for sooty bricks too.Helpful Reply

Nancy Jenkins on Nov 22, 2014Mine was not a wood burning fireplace so I chose to clean with TSP and water and rinse. I hope the sponge I use won't fall apart. I will put old sheet on wood flooring so TSP and then primer paint, catch the drips. Smokers must have been upstairs too.Helpful Reply
