How do I clean bronze cutlery?

I have a set of bronze cutlery that are 40 years old - they are showing their age, turning green in spots and don't have the shine that hey used to. I have tried brass cleaner to no effect. I use them only for special dinners but want them to look their best. Any suggestions?
