For years, the cleaning lady used Mop & Glo to mop the floors which left a build-up around the edges of the floor! I've tried several things to remove the grey matter, but nothing has worked!

Many years ago I used to use Mop & Glow so I know exactly what you mean. One of the things that worked for me was to mix Vinegar with water, let it sit a bit then wipe it up. If there was a lot of Mop & Glow on the surface, I would do it again. I found the most buildup was around the edges. I looked it up and it 1/2 cup vinegar to 1 gallon of water. If you can't handle the vinegar smell or don't want your house to smell like salad add some your favorite essential oil or even lemon juice. HTH

I've done it on hands and knees with lost of fans and ventilation using straight ammonia and steel wool to cut through as ammonia softens old buildup.

Hot water and ammonia. Ammonia is great at stripping wax.

Oh boy! How I WELL remember the build-up around the borders of my old kitchen floor! Every few years, I'd spend hours on my knees using a product they called "Floor Stripper". Wish I could remember the brand but I'm sure there's products out there that do the job. Vinyl floors improved vastly over the years; they no longer need any shiny type product applied - and we eventually replaced ours. If you still have a cleaning lady applying a "shine" product, tell her to leave about a 20" border or you will need to strip the floor again. Normal foot traffic eventually wears the shine product off in the middle areas of the floors but, of course, we don't reallywalk along the borders!
