How in the world do person clean slate floors or slate shower walls?

    ^^ what Cheryl said - that's actually a great article.

    I grew up with slate, and the 'finish' wore out quite quickly, so we took to oiling it (along with all of the woodwork) spring and fall.


    most of the time, stuff cleans up with mild soap and water (a splash of Murphy's Oil Soap won't kill it)


    and remember, it's not marble, or granite, it's not precious, or fancy - slate is more like soapstone, it's homey.
