How to get burlap odor out?

I like to craft and love the burlap looks. But whenever, or where ever I buy it, it has an odor and not a pleasant one. Besides washing it, does anyone have a remedy to get that smell out ????Whether getting it on a roll or a spool , it always smells. Thanks for any help.

i have found this to be an issue also. I will leave it in the sun for a couple of days and see if the smell has gone.
I am allergic to it that may be your problem...isn't it actually hemp type product? maybe I am wrong
Baking soda.. My Uncle said he did that as a kid.. In his 90's now. Me late 50's. Take the burlap and put baking soda on it..leave it in a sealed bag dry indeed. Saturated and then in a couple of days remove from bag.. And shake the baking soda off of burlap.My aunt just said to spray with Apple Cider vinegar. Let drip dry ...
