You can put the empty, except for the wax, into the freezer and it should be able to pop right out...OR you can put it in the microwave~ NOT~ on high, it should melt and you can pour it out...but not down the drain.

Heating it up with a hair dryer or low oven setting

I have used hot water to soften wax in votive holders and wiped it out with a paper towel. If it is on the outside, you can make it cold (freezer) and using a plastic knife or scraper, pop it off in chunks.

For metal or glass I put about 10 newspaper pages on an oven rack, put the containers upside down on it and turn the oven on low 140/150 as the wax melts it is absorbed by the paper, then just throw the paper away and wash them. Plastic in the freezer, then chip off with plastic spoon.

You can also use boiling water, but make sure to carefully remove the item from the water while it is still hot, or the wax will stick right back to it.

Rubbing Alcohol and 409 both dissolve wax wonderfully.

Agree with GeraldandAnnPaxton---put in freezer===great for candles in glass votives too====let them freeze and stuff will come right out
