Is citrus acid OK for soaking pots & pans?

Question

Just wondering if the citric acid would cause any damage to pots & pans that need to soak a while.  I use mostly nonstick cookware, but love my grandma's aluminum spaghetti pot ... don't want to risk damaging it, it's older than I am!

There are other cleaning products for this.Try Bon Ami. Do not use citrus on pots.

I have just started to make cheese. Aluminum pots can't be used because they are reactive cookware. the cheese has citric acid in it so a non-reactive pot is needed

I have stainless steel pots and pans I've had for more than 50 years now. Yikes! 
When I cook anything with tomatoes in them like spaghetti sauce, after washing and drying the pan I used there is new luster and shine to the pan. But that is safe stainless steel, I would never trust it with aluminum.

Anything that is acid eats into metal. Try Oxiclean. In an hour it will soak off heavy burned food and clean stains away.
