What can I use to clean a laminate floor?

I have a Norwex mop that I do not use anything but water with, not even soap. It is good in that it allows me to use very little water however for some reason it leaves a film even when I use it fresh being laundered. I use a very mild soap to launder it and my other Norwex products. What laminate floor cleaners should I use?

I suspect it leaves a film because it isn't getting all the dirt. I don't care what they told you....plain water simply isn't capable of removing the dirt created in an average home. Try mixing up some cool water and adding a small squirt of dish washing soap. You may have to clean it a couple of times to get it clean but dish washing soap will remove the dirt without leaving a film.

Okay, I'll try it, but I figured it would leave a film

When the installers were putting in my laminate floor about 8 years ago, one of them was a woman, she said the only thing I should use, get a clean spray bottle, put in 1/2 cup plain ammonia, and fill the rest with water. Then anytime I need to clean use a Swiffer, the dry replaceable sheet kind, and spray the sheet, not the floor, keep spraying and cleaning til you're done, changing sheets as necessary, I had a large area , I still use the same thing today, and my floors look great. So easy and so clean...........

There are several products on the market or at the flooring store that I use and it leaves a nice shine on the floors. Wish I had gotten hardwood but I have a dog and the laminate is better. Sorry I can't think of the name.

Your Norwex mop needs hot water only to clean it, hang it to dry. Two reasons, first unless you rinse in cold water several time, suds are left behind. Second if any softener added to either washer or dryer accumulates and will leave a film with water. A small amount of white vinegar can be added to your water before washing the laminate. Good luck.

I have been using Bruce floor cleaner for years. Ever since I had my wood flooring put in my kitchen. I use my swiffer to clean up all the dust an dog hair. Then I spray about a 3 ft. section and mop and then spray another section and mop and so on. In no time at all my floor is all mopped and my floor is beautiful and shiny. There is no film left behind. And it dries quickly. I would never change to another product. There is a mop from Bruce floor cleaner that does a great job and it has a washable terry cloth fabric that goes on easily and comes off easily then it can be tossed in the wash. When I walk across the floor I can't feel any stickiness on my feet. I did have that problem with one cleaner that I used.

Thanks to all. I would think ammonia would be too harsh, so that surprises me. I only wash my Norwex mop or any of my Norwex products with a very mild detergent, no softeners. You may be right about the soap not getting completely out. Is the Bruce cleaner for laminate? My husband has used Favor squirt & Mop and it does pretty good but it takes forever to do a 3' x 3' area and I don't want to use my Norwex mop with it. I will try all your suggestions! Thanks!

@Lea Anne Grabb My floor is wood. Is laminate wood? I don't think my floor is laminate I had it put down about 8 years ago and don't remember what it was called except for red oak. I have always used the Bruce floor cleaner. You could check with the people at Home Depot in the flooring dept. and ask if it is okay to use it on laminate. Sorry I couldn't remember if my floor is laminate. I don't think the Bruce cleaner would hurt your floor. I hope you find a good solution to cleaning your floor, Lea Anne.

Did you talk to your Norwex consultant about it? The consultant could/should know how to troubleshoot this alongside you! There are so many questions that I would ask as a consultant in order to narrow down what could be causing the issue. People who say that Norwex can't possibly clean the dirt with only water have no concept of how Norwex works and the science behind it. I remember when I thought that way and now I have been using Norwex exclusively for close to four years and it's been amazing! Good luck! Allow a consultant to do their job and walk this issue with you!
