Yellow counter tops

I work in home care, someone used bleach on their old white counter tops and they turned yellow. Is there any way to get the yellow stain out. I tryed soaking vinagar over night with soaked paper towel but it didn't all come up. Any ideas?

  • If these are Laminate tops your out of luck. Laminate counters are a plastic coating over layers of a special paper embedded with an epoxy. Once the bleach has got into the top your pretty much toast. Only thing I could suggest is trying polishing compound that they use on autos. Perhaps if its just the surface it might remove the stain. But I would not bet on it.

I used to have white laminate kitchen counter tops in a former home. I would use Clorox Cleanup on them and sometimes if I left it on a little too long, it would create yellowed spots. I always had good luck buffing them out using Comet Cleanser and a soft scrubbie sponge (but do not use any bleach product and Comet together because it can create noxious fumes!). This may or may not work for you, depending on the condition of the counter tops, how extensive the spots are etc., but it's worth a try. Also, you could try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponge. It's amazing what those things will remove but I didn't know about their awesomeness back then.

Vinegar work the first time, but someone came behind me and used Clorox again now the vinigar won't work, try comet w/scrubber no good, now trying auto polish as suggested. If this don't work I think they are stuck with yellow counters. Its a shame. If they were mine I'd. Be having a fit

If i were you, I'd wax the counters well after you get them clean. It might keep the bleach from getting into the laminate next time.
