Formica countertop has spots - how to remove?

As I was looking at the kitchen countertop from the side, I noticed a couple of spots on it that looks like the shine has worn off or was rubbed off with an abrasive cleaner. So I used a car paste wax hoping to restore the shine but that idea didn’t work. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

If the color and pattern are intact, then use a countertop polish. I’m surprised car wax didnt work. But maybe a kitchen is not hot enough to cure the wax, like sunshine would. ☺️

  Thank you Jewell! I never realized so much information on Formica countertops was available! I do have Pledge and lemon oil so that is this evening’s project!

  Hi Jewell!
  I just wanted to tell you that I used orange scented Pledge on the worn Formica spots and it worked! I am amazed how nice it looks! I still have one spot about the size of a dime but if I can’t fix that I’m not going to worry about it! Thanks again!

I've purchased a formica countertop polish at Home Depot, it'll shine it back up pretty good, but it does wipe off some when cleaning up after a meal.

  Yes, it's called "Countertop Magic". It says on the quart container that it's professional strenght, cleans, polishes, protects, , for laminates & solid countertops, wax free-no build up. It's in a yellow jug & half of the lable is orange. It shines my counter tops up pretty good & hides blemishes (& a ring from where a hot coffee pot was sat down). I'd check on Home Depots site to see if they still carry it, if not, google it, it should be available elsewhere. Good luck with shining things up! Someone who saw the counter once said that it made it look like leather. (from the texture of counter & the shine).

I’m even willing to try high gloss clear fingernail polish on the edge, but not on top. ☺️
