Nifty product at hardware called tsp. Its a powder. Will remove any grime.

I use a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water with a few drops of Dawn for my cabinets, so yes, it will work. However if it's been building up for a long time, you might need to repeat the process. You can also make a paste of baking soda & water, lightly scrub the cabinets then spray on the vinegar/water/Dawn mixture. I hope that helps. Wishing you the best.
