Place a bucket under the elbow drain pipe. Loosen the screw and then dump the excess out of the pipe. Hopefully that helps. If the blockage is at the wall then you should contact a licensed plumber.
Agreed with Monica afore. However, also note: Plungers are not for toilets only. They work on any pipe: Tubs, sinks, flood drains, and yes, Toilets. Especially if you are talking PVC, which cannot handle Crystal Drano. Often After a good plunge, all you need do is loosen any grime remaining with a not too expensive [at dollar tree or dollar general] 'liquid plumber', or even Dawn dishwashing Liquid, if it is greasy.
After this experience, you should realize that doing this bit of liquid plumber or dawn liquid, once a month, with a small amount, truly maintains flow and rids of foul odors alot better than unclogging only when there is a problem and/or cleansing only when you have a foul odor.
Abiding a general rule of: 'Treat your Home a bit like a beloved Pet' and you should have no problems.
I use to take care of a farm lady. .her trick was to boil a pan water dump down sink . Work great .good luck .worth a try .
I agree with the other two who have answered your question. In future it will help to run the hot water for a few minutes, after washing dishes, to help move the grease and food particles out of the trap and drain into the sewer lines to prevent future problems.
As for the plunger, I purchased a small short handled plunger just for the kitchen; haven't had to use it yet.
Try pouring baking soda in the drain followed by vinegar. Once it bubbles up pour hot water into the drain and it should be unclogged. May have to repeat if clog is further down the pipe. Works for me every time. Good luck.
