Can anyone suggest how to get carpenter pencil marks off cedar pergola

We just got our pergola installed out front. My husband wasn't able to be out there with them all the time and an evidently new crew, they marked all over it. Regular pencil eraser is not working. ARGHH!!! We are not happy campers.

Maybe they used an oil based marker, although I cannot imagine why? Have you contacted the company and asked them how to solve this problem? If the marks are pretty noticeable, I would want them to come back and remove them for you!!!

Use the rubber end of the pencil, it is sure to come off.

If it is smooth wood, try a Magic Eraser (Mr. Clean). If rough wood, mineral spirits or turpentine (per Eamonn Hammond).

A very light rub with fine sandpaper.

Get a gum eraser from an art supply place. Should work just fine and not leave any residue.
