How do i keep a creek clear from algae and fungus?

Question

I have a slow moving creek in front of my house very slow moving unless it rains.It is a shady area.Im having problems with algae growth and was wondering if anyone could suggest any remedies or products that may help with this.Since its a slow moving creek and very shallow water im not sure what plants would work to help decrease algae.The algae slows the water down even more.If it were a pond it might be easier to treat but this is a creek that runs through several of my neighbors yards and emptys in a near by pond. thanks
