Oh that's tricky. You might need to contact both of the manufacturers to find out what you can do. For future reference, those types of sealers are for unsealed surfaces which is why it's still sticky.
Hi Bai,
I've never used Thompson's Water Sealer so I went looking online to help you. Sadly, this is what I found on Thompson's website:
https://www.thompsonsweatherproofing.co.uk/faqs/
"CAN WATER SEAL BE APPLIED TO PAINTED SURFACES?
No. Water Seal can only be used on bare and uncoated brick, stone or concrete."
The painted concrete question is not addressed on their US website however the description only says concrete or smooth concrete blocks, not painted concrete in the coverage area. In reading about the product, it states that it soaks into the concrete so if it's put on top of epoxy paint there is no where for it to go. Maybe with more time it will completely dry/cure but I don't know if that will happen.
There are also many articles about removing the water seal with muriatic acid then neutralized with baking soda but my guess is that would also mess up the epoxy paint. :(
My suggestion would be to contact the company and ask if they have any suggestions for how to remove their product from an epoxy painted surface without ruining the paint. They might have a suggestion about how to do it or how to completely dry/cure it or remove the stickiness. I wish you the best. - Linda
I think you are in a mess. You'll probably have to strip it.
