Hi Beckie. My husband is a retired fire fighter, the fire departments he worked for had a deodorizer they used to help remove the smoke smell. He always called it "Sweet Nellie". I would check with your local fire station and see if they still have/use a similar product and where you can purchase it.
Wash everything from ceiling to floor. And I mean every single thing that is in the room(s), including furniture, clothing, upholstery. Start in on room that use can use as a holding tank to quarantine the clean items from the uncleaned rooms or items.
Place an open can of ground coffee in each room. It may take two or three weeks, but should work and save you a lot of work. You should never store your coffee in the refrigeratortor because it absorbs food odors that make your coffee taste funny. I have used this trick for cars that people smoked in and for other odors around the house.
