Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 14, 2012Any vegetable based soap will help remove the oil and grease from the clothing. Also being a heavy weight cotton type you will still see the stain. I own several Jackets manufactured by the same company. They take a great beating and wear very well. But once grease such as this gets into the fibers the staining effect cannot be taken out. For us carpenters and builders, it is sort of a badge of honor to have these types of stains. Shows everyone how hard we work. The same thing goes with new nail and work pouches. Everyone knows the new guy when he comes to the job in a pretty pouch with shiny tools. Most will put the new pouch on the ground and walk on it and get it all dirty before going to a job.Helpful Reply

Sherrie on Dec 16, 2012the sooner it's cleaned the easier. If it has ran through the dryer or set to long it makes it harder. First scrape off as much as possible using lifting motions you dont want to grind it in. Then use a thick layer of corn starch and sprinkle it on the stain. Let it set maybe over night. It will absorb a lot if the grease. Shake it off your clothing. Then try Dawn Dish Soap and a tooth brush and scrub. Let it set for a few minutes. Dawn has grease fighting power. If this doesn't work use half ammonia and water. And let it set. If it has set for awhile or dried use WD40 on it and blot then use the rest of the steps. Depending on how old, what kind of material test spot. If it is a expensive jacket I wouldn't hesitate to take it to the cleaners. I have used this on T Shirts and my Husbands jackets I found this formula over the Internet.Helpful Reply

Teena Mevec on Mar 21, 2015I cleaned door grease off a white lace curtain using Baking soda and Dawn Dish soap. I figured if it can clean Petroleum off wildlife and can get grease out the curtain. It worked, it took a while but it worked. Clean it, rinse, repeat, until stain is gone. I used a kids soft tooth brush to work it into the fabric.Helpful Reply
