How to get rid of fog in a house?
We have been seeing a fog in the house, especially seen in sun light but not dust. It leaves a white film seen on the wood especially near the television entertainment center. We believe it is from the humidifier, seemed to be worse. We have been using distilled water and that has helped. Is this calcium in the air?

Hi, Nancy: I don't know what this might be, but I think you should have it checked by an "expert"; maybe a heating/airconditioning person? Hope it's not bad for you!

Hi Nancy,
From my experience, I'd say that your humidifier is set too high. You don't want the moisture in your home to be more than 30-40%. The white film that you're seeing could be anything that's in the air in your home or it could be coming from your humidifier itself. The fact that it's better when you use distilled water shows that. While it might not look like dust, there is always microscopic dust everywhere. If it gets "wet", it can appear as a film. I'd either lower the humidity or call a professional to make sure that it's working properly. I hope this helps. Wishing you the best.
The white film was from the calcium in your tap water. The distilled water should help, but you need to review articles about this problem with free standing humidifiers. You must clean the inside of the appliance as well as the filters, every few days.
There is an opening which is letting moisture in your home. Find the opening and seal it.
