When I decorate for Halloween, I have fall colors as well as Halloween specific. For example, my wreath on the front door I just added a "welcome to our web" sign at the bottom and removed it on November 1st. Any decorative pumpkins with Halloween decor gets turned around so that the "hocus pocus", "boo", etc now faces the wall. I use burnt orange place mats so that works for both. I leave my tiny hay bales out as well. The only thing that gets put away is the tombstone place cards.

A lot of the things can be reused for Thanksgiving, just put away the ones that are for Halloween, like witches, ghosts, etc. and keep the general uncarved pumpkins, scarecrows, etc. that are more in the Thanksgiving theme.

Plastic Jack O Lanterns - turn the faces around to hide it from view. Get rid of all Halloween tombstones, skeletons in a large plastic box and stick a HALLOWEEN LABEL on it. Use Autumn leaves under planters, on top of plants, table décor, ribbons, if not scary can be used on door wreaths. How about autumn leaf wreaths or door swags? Any pumpkins or gourds can be reused on tables, hot glued onto leaves, around wreaths and swags, leaf rings with small pumpkins and gourds around leaves for napkin rings, glued on cards for place settings.

Cynthia….I use to do that but after children grew up I stopped using Halloween. I would include any fall but for Halloween would add ghost, jack o lanterns, etc. then when Halloween was over I would remove the Halloween items and replace with pilgrims, pumpkins, turkeys, etc.

At the beginning of October I decorate for Fall in my home. I use hay, pumpkins, acorns, pinecones, rustic wreaths etc. Then the week of Halloween, I bring out all of the Halloween decorations and add to the existing Fall decor. Things like signs are created with an intention of using both sides; one for Fall and one for Halloween. This way they can just be turned to the correct viewing - Fall or Halloween. For things like wreaths, I layer on other items to bring out Halloween and then remove when the day has pasted. I do the same with door mats, pillows, etc. Let me know if you have other questions.
